Garden of Eden ~ Tinui Station Homestead
4195 Masterton Castle Point Road, Tinui, Wairarapa

The road to Castlepoint is steeped in history. As it meanders around hills and over rivers, passing fields of grazing livestock and stands of native bush, the stresses of the modern world slip away and the simple rhythms of old New Zealand life make themselves known. Wildflowers peek out from the verge, native birds call in the hills. This is a landscape rich in New Zealand history offering an escape from the modern world, a haven in which to settle in harmony with the land.

Turning off the main road onto a  tree-lined driveway, you will discover Tinui Station Homestead sitting majestically on its 100 year old site. The Homestead and surrounding land is embraced within the protection of the Te Nui Taipos, the rocky limestone outcrop which gazes over the land. Tinui Station Homestead was once part of Tinui Station, a 23,000 acre sheep station. It is now comprised of two titles: one, made up of approx 51 ha of pasture paddocks, a substantial dam, and regenerating native bush. The second, a 6.3 ha parcel, encompassing the Homestead (490m2+/-), heated swimming pool, private tree filled park surrounding the Homestead, established organic flower and vegetable gardens, and an organic mixed-fruit orchard, as well as 3 other dwellings and a large implement shed.  There are many springs in the limestone outcrop but the oldest one, the Tinui Spring, flows in abundant supply to the gardens, and Cottages, to all of the surrounding paddock troughs and is the water supply for the village of Tinui, as it has done for hundreds of years.  The Homestead has an ample supply of filtered rainwater from its four 25,000l tanks, and has  capacity for  substantially more water storage.

.

Over a period of five years, the Homestead has been extensively renovated to the highest environmental and aesthetic standards. Meticulous attention to detail is evident throughout the home, from the timelessly modern kitchen to the luxe vintage décor. The very best of New Zealand heritage has been blended with refined European design and environmental awareness to create a truly unique property.

The home is well-suited to both relaxed and sophisticated entertaining. The large, open-plan chef’s kitchen and walk-in pantry makes preparing meals a joy, with fresh, organic vegetables straight from the nearby garden. The kitchen and connected informal living/dining area open out onto the patio for an intimate gathering, while the drawing room and formal dining room are perfect for your most refined functions.

On the top floor, three spacious bedrooms and two bathrooms enjoy panoramic views of the grounds. Below, one wing of the house is devoted to a large master suite, with a luxurious double en-suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe.

The Homestead is surrounded by lush, mature gardens and grand old oak trees: perfect for enjoying a Sauvignon Blanc in the Wairarapa sunshine, listening to the wind rustling in trees and the songs of the many native birds.

Set well back from the Homestead are three separate cottages, each with their own spa pool. All three are self-contained, beautifully renovated and fully furnished ready to house extended family or provide guest accommodation for a small business venture accommodating up to 26 guests. There is a large implement shed for storing farm and garden equipment.

This property has unlimited potential for further development, for example as an events venue, private or corporate retreat, or a hideaway for writers, artists and nature-lovers.

Tinui Station Homestead sits within a short drive of the magnificent swimming, fishing and surfing beaches of Castlepoint and Riversdale. The property is within easy reach of the Wairarapa’s wine country, boutique vineyards and charming small towns, and the capital city Wellington is accessible by car or train within two hours.

By itself Tinui Station Homestead is a special and unique eco paradise, a safe and secure haven suitable  for the most discerning buyer. For privacy reasons not all rooms have been shown in the photography and video. Viewing arrangements are strictly by appointment only. Call 02101017524 for more information.
